Welcome to Noongar tall timber country. Our hearts are always here. Enjoy our land. Go happily across our place.

Beyond the obvious beauty of the natural environment in our Shire, there are many other joys to experience which will keep you coming back for more. Our natural places offer opportunities for outdoor recreational sports from swimming, fishing; canoeing; bushwalking and mountain biking in abundance. But these are only the tip of the iceberg. Where else can a grown man climb one of the tallest trees in the world?

Since its early beginnings as a centre of timber production for Australia and the world, the region has become a notable gourmet's paradise. Over a year we produce over 50 different food varieties, from fresh fruit and berries to the freshest of vegetables, to beef, black perigord truffle, to a variety of colder climate wines.

Of course, sustaining the body is necessary, but what makes life worth living is those experiences which touch our hearts and minds. The arts are the reason we value life, uplifting our spirits, engendering awe and wonder, and reflecting back to us the unique experience of every life. The Shire is home to many talented artists, and each town has its own active arts community. Whether its taking in a show at the local repertory club, going to a gallery opening, or taking part in group art activities, there are plenty of ways to renew your spirit here - whether you're a visitor or a local.
